Executive summary

Foreign Affairs Auto — a South Florida European auto specialist founded in 1982 — had strong brand recognition but was losing organic share to newer competitors with cleaner technical foundations.

Over six months we ran a full technical audit, consolidated duplicate service pages, rebuilt internal linking around brand + service intent, and executed a white-hat digital PR programme.

The site now attracts 6.1K organic visitors per month across 7K ranking keywords, backed by 911 referring domains — a defensible authority moat in a competitive niche.

The challenge

Legacy debt was capping organic growth

The site had accumulated four decades of decisions: duplicated service pages for near-identical brands (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, MINI, Land Rover), inconsistent hreflang for their Spanish-speaking audience, and thin content on high-intent pages.

Referring-domain growth had flatlined despite genuine press relationships, because the linkable assets on the site were buried behind slow LCP and duplicate canonicals.

  • Duplicate service pages diluting ranking signals
  • Slow LCP (>4.0s on mobile) hurting Core Web Vitals
  • Weak internal linking between brand pages and services
  • PR mentions landing on redirected or canonicalised URLs
The approach

Technical foundation first, then authority

We refuse to build links onto a broken foundation. So the first month was audit-only: crawl the site, map canonicals, catalogue every duplicate, and produce a fix log with owner and priority.

Once the crawl was clean, we rebuilt the internal-linking model around a hub-and-spoke: brand hubs (BMW repair, Mercedes repair) linking to service spokes (transmission, brake, diagnostics), each spoke linking back to the location page.

Only then did the digital PR programme launch — targeting automotive publications, local Miami business press, and enthusiast communities.

The framework

OPTIMIZE applied end-to-end

This engagement is a textbook SEO Growth Process execution: Observe (audit), Plan (fix log + IA), Test (staged rollouts), Iterate (weekly CWV monitoring), Measure (Semrush + GSC + GA4), Improve (content refresh cycle), Zoom (topical expansion), Elevate (authority campaign).

  • Observe: 147 technical issues found and triaged
  • Plan: 6-month roadmap with weekly sprints
  • Iterate: monthly ranking + CWV reviews
  • Elevate: 12 high-authority PR placements
The result

Compounding organic growth with a defensible moat

Six months in, organic traffic sits at 6.1K/month against 7K ranking keywords. Referring domains grew to 911 — a moat that would take a competitor years and six figures to replicate.

The Semrush Authority Score of 29 with a 'Good' trust signal reflects the quality of the link profile, not just its size.
